How to play cd's in snakeoil
#1
Hello,
it's been a while since I posted. I have a whole bunch of questions.

The first being, how do I play a CD in snakeoil?

I have installed a Blu ray cd player, just wondering how I use it? I have been using the most current version of mpd but I can change if needed.

Also the HDMI output and 3.5mm are not showing up either. I will start a different thread about that.

Both versions of MPD in Snakeoil (0.21.x and 0.22x) supports the cdda:// protocol, (cdparanoia)...

In theory you'll need to create a playlist with the entries and MPD should be able to play them. This is not automated yet though, so you have to do this manually yourself.

Audio CD playback, and ripping is in my to-do list, and will be implemented given time.

If you have Deadbeef enabled, that will work as well.  I use it as JRiver is a pain to use for CDs in Linux.

How do I enable deadbeef and what are you using to control it?

Install deadbeef either manually or via the Snakeoil menu. Once installed deadbeef will show up in the players list.

I've only used deadbeef via VNC I believe, I don't think there's a remote client yet but could be wrong?
