What DAC are you using? Is it native DSD?

Actual DSD sampling rate is much higher than that. it's sampled at 64x 44.1kHz.

The 352800 is the locked rate according to ALSA (Linux Audio driver). So as far as ALSA is concerned, it's sending an audio stream with a sampling rate of 352800, with a bit depth of 1 bit per sample. That number doesn't add up, so I'm guessing it's a ALSA bug.

You can ignore that. I'm showing that only because some audio cards lock the rate at 48 kHz when playing Redbook material... Ignore that for DSD, as long as the DSD LEd is lit on your DAC, you're getting DSD.

Yes I use Lampizator Big 7 MKII- native DSD to 512.  I don’t use DSD much though as the vast majority of my files are CD at 16/44 and I prefer
native generally -but I still like to
experiment occasionally.  When PCM- DSD conversion is engaged it does get noticeably less-loud, which is-I believe-the Sox resampler engaging a default attenuation to prevent clipping, so maybe it’s working.   I don’t have an indicator on the DAC to tell me.

Volume of DSD is -6 dB lower by default, which is pretty significant. But it's not necessary a bad thing as there's detail, just bump up the volume.

The bitrate shouldn't be that high if you're playing Redbook 44.1 kHz at 16 bit depth. Something is probably upsampling the music to that bit rate, or the DAC is locked to that rate. Eitherway if you're not hearing/feeling anything negative can just leave that be.
