OK so quick update on the topping d50.
I had theives break in and steal a lot of my equipment.
I purchased another d50 from amazon and it arrived yesterday. Was really fast and I love the Dac so I thought I may as well get another considering the price and what it can do

Native dsd isn't working. It is showing dsd files as 705.6k. When I switch on the dop it is coming up as dsd.

So far I am enjoying snakeoil, however minimserver is refusing to download, this is very minor as I am using lms with similar benefits.

I have been using the squeezer app for android and when wanting to change rooms I will instead use BubbleUPnP app for android.

That is all I can report for the moment as I am still trying to get a new system in place.
Oh also I changed psu again and it made such a difference, I could not believe it.
The ram playback also improved sq greatly.
Unfortunately I only have a pair of pretty cheap mission floorstanders to use at the moment until all of my insurance is sorted out

Yikes!....commiserations Sad
Hope you have a good security system now.... thieves know that insurance replaces items so diary repeat break-ins for the newly replaced goods.

Bad Atmosphere So sorry to hear that. One of my biggest fear TBH.

You're hearing music I assume? Using latest version of MPD? If so, this implies your XMOS chip is using a different USB ID. Follow this walkthrough and you should get native DSD working.

+1. I couldn't believe it either. And honestly don't really know why it would make a difference.. A lot of Hifi tweaks don't make sense to be honest, e.g. Jumbo Frames. This is more art and feel than science and intuition.

While a nice feature, at the moment it's still rather akward. Wait for U8 where there will be some changes to make it easier!

Good luck.
OK so with abit of tinkering I have been able to achieve native dsd.

So I updated snakeoil firmware. Installed the newest kernel. And set the native dsd options to dsd_u32_be : altset 3

Sounds brilliant.
Now time to try and get upnp working with mpd. When trying to install the umpmcli I am getting the following errors

Easy as with XMOS. Just works in Linux (Ironically this chip is very problematic in Windows IME).

Exactly the opposite with Amanero USB receiver.

Can you scroll up (and possibly C&P) the entire contents of the install console?
Sure, here it is

Getting a similar error when trying to install minim

Could this be because I am using mpd 20?

I tried installing mpd 0.20.4 and its working but not gathering a database.
MPD 0.20.7(8)? Is not in the server download list
Two issues at play here.

This is a DNS lookup failure. If you're using static IP address setup for your Snakeoil PC, make sure you specify a correct DNS address. If you're using DHCP then perhaps it's something to do with your ISP? Basically your PC will try to query a DNS server and convert this strange "au.archive.ubuntu.com" into a IP. That process is failing.

Arrrgh. This is my bug! Blush SSH into your machine and run the following:
Code:
sudo apt install -y software-properties-common

I'll fix this in U8.

OK I changed to dhcp in snakeoil os. And set it to static in router settings. Still getting the same error.

As far as ssh into the machine, I am completely new to this. I am going to have to research how to do it.

Thankyou. I'll try a few things. Fairly new to Linux, although I have been using libreelec (kodi os) for years. Most of the settings are within the front end.

So what I would love to end up with is my snakeoil machine in my hifi room, and be able to send music to other rooms playing on kodi. I am totally fine doing this via lms but mpd just sounds so much better. I thought I was imagining it but I showed my dad and he said that mpd is clearly better quality.

I think the dns problem must be what is stopping me from being able to download minimserver and upmpdcli, I will try to ssh into the machine now!

Snakeoil is so good! And I am learning a lot as I go.
Thankyou so much

Have you rebooted the Snakeoil PC? This change requires the PC to reset.

With the computer you're using now, load your browser, and go to the URL: http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

Does it work?

Here's a short section on how to usel SSH.

MPD is good.. if you are for the ultimate best quality in playback, MPD is second to none Thumbs Up .

Sometimes I think it's too good it makes some of my crap recordings sounds really really crap. Big Grin

Anyway, happy listening.
