I have only been using snakeoil for just over a month. It is by far the best music streaming operating system. I started with Windows, foobar and minimserver. I was not very happy with the sound quality from Windows, and I didn't think anything else would have drivers for my Dac (especially native dsd) so I started looking into Linux options. I started with daphile, which in its own right is very good and easy to set up if you like using lms. I also tried kodi as a music player/server, (libreelec to be specific). There was no drivers for my Dac in kodi/libreelec. I still highly recommend kodi as a video player. It will play any type of video file, its meta data handling is amazing and it works well as a upnp renderer in my HT room

So I heard through the grapevine (snoopy9) about snakeoil.
And it is so amazing. I started with lms, the audio was considerably better. I started tinkering and set up mpd.. Wow the sound quality that is produced with music play daemon is something so special.
I'm not even using decent speakers at the moment yet, it has made my current temporary mission speakers sound just as good as a $4000 pair that I no longer have.
Snakeoil gives you so many options and so many tweaks available that if you a audiophile with an inclination to tinker you will be in heaven.
Every day I am learning more and tweaking, and every day my music sounds better.

Agent kith from this forum is one of the most helpful people I have had the privelage of conversing with. Any problem you have he will respond extremely fast and help.

To think I was going to spend multiple hundreds on a roon licence, I'm so glad that I found snakeoil and I could spend that money on a new power supply.
I am extremely excited to see how the os progresses and how new features are added.

I will be showing all my hifi friends this operating system and suggesting it to all.
Thankyou to everyone involved and I am looking forward to learning more so I can help contribute
