Download LMS 8 from the website and upload it via the install box. Then SSH into the machine and run:
Code:
sudo systemctl disable logitechmediaserver

Reboot and see if it works.

Excellent. I was able to do the upgrade via the install box, and looking at the server version via the interface, shows that I am at version 8. I'm just wondering what running command will do, since I'm not a Linux pro.

Thanks

Do you mean what the
Code:
systemctl disable logitechmediaserver
will do? It basically disables LMS from auto start on reboot.

This way, when you are using MPD (or some other players), LMS is not always running (save processor time).
For some reason I get the error message "Error Uploaded file has an invalid extension: logitechmediaserver_7_9_3_amd64.deb" while trying to upgrade to LMS 7.9.3 or 8.0.0.
Tried to remove the dots from the filename but that didn't solve the issue.

Tried via two different browsers on my Linux machine:
- Firefox 80
- Chromium Versie 85.0.4183.83

Snake-oil versions:
- Version : 1.1.9 (Blind Testing U9)
- Kernel: 4.4.9-rt17-snakeoil-x64
- CPU : Intel® Atom™ CPU N2600 @ 1.60GHz

Any idea what might be causing this issue?

I just did a test on 1.1.10 and uploaded this: logitechmediaserver_7.9.4~1599547819_amd64.deb

And it worked fine. It should also work with 1.1.9 as that code hasn't been changed. Should work as long as the filename ends with ".deb" (without quotes).

Can you SSH into your Snakeoil PC and check there's enough diskspace? Also, do you have any Windows machines to try and upload from? I'm going to try doing this from a Linux VM soonish to see how it goes.
Hello,

download this beta version of lms and it works flawlessly.

logitechmediaserver_8.0.0_1599750927_amd64.deb

from here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly...hp?ver=8.0

and:

Logitech Media Server Status
Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1599750927 @ Thu Sep 10 17:48:40 CEST 2020

In fact it greatly improved the functionality since for some reason before it could not play m4a files.

Greetings from Chile.

P.D.: my apologies for my not so good english language.
Thanks agent_kith and audioluthier!
I was able to succesfully upload the deb file using an old Windows-7 virtual machine in Virtualbox like you suggested.
Not sure what the reason was why I couldn't do this with my Linux Mint 19.3 machine.

Agree with audioluthier that 8.0.0 seems to run more stable than the original version 7.9.1.
Hi mister Kith!
My problem is because i cant use Tidal (Snakeoil LMS ver. is 7.9).
I download file "logitechmediaserver_8.3.0_amd64.deb" but Snakeoil Instal Box cant see deb file and i cannot instal LMS.
What i must do?
Sincerely
Sredoje
