Where did u order your Pi5 from?
The Pi Hut, in the UK, where I got my 8GB Pi 4 in August.

(04-Oct-2023, 04:40 PM)agent_kith Wrote: [ -> ]Well. It was kind of a shitty year. I do listen to music at work, just havn't really sit in the main room. Several reason. Been real busy, and after 3 years of staying here in Australia, I've kind of run out of new music, and wasn't in the mood to listen to my existing library. The thing is, most music don't really sound good on good hifi gear. It kind of makes my bad mood even worse when that happens. Spotify is out of the question as the quality is really bad. And yet to explore Tidal.
Try Qobuz - for one thing, it has a working LMS plugin!

Sounds fun!

(04-Oct-2023, 04:40 PM)agent_kith Wrote: [ -> ]Thanks. Almost there now. Just need a good few hours to sit down and churn it out.
Sound of bated breath...
(01-Oct-2023, 05:14 AM)uglymusic Wrote: [ -> ]Just a thought. Why would I use 32-bit when 64-bit is available? Unless it sounds better, of course  Wink
(04-Oct-2023, 04:40 PM)agent_kith Wrote: [ -> ]That's the idea. Will try both and see if any is better.
Of course, each of us will have to try it on our systems  Smile
Almost there now.. Just need to setup the new download server (non nextcloud based) and update the installer script to use that and we should be good to go. Probably need one more week for these last 2 steps.

And when that works, final step is to decommission the snakeoil nextcloud server to save administration time.

Build time of 20 minutes is still way too long, mainly because I'm building the arm binaries on actual physical raspberry Pis. Even offloaded to a SSD, they're still not as quick as I would like. Pi 5 is going to be heaps quicker but really want to explore cross-compiling Pi binaries on x86_64 hardware again. But that will be a project for the distant future.
Literally thwarted at the last step!!!

The last step for the installer is to download and install the pre-built binary of mympd. Now, there is RaspbianOS and Ubuntu OS. Former contains arm64 binaries, and later only x86_64 binaries. And I'm using Ubuntu 64 bit for arm processors. So none of those pre-built binaries will work.

Last step! So close.... Hopefully can find some time later today to build mympd from scratch. And then Alpha 1 will be ready for release. When ready I will create a post in the "Test Builds" area.

If you have donated previously but can't see that forum section, send me a DM with your activation details.
Yes... the times I have tried to update or install mympd on other OS and every time it fails miserably.
The documentation, repos, instructions, and missing .deb files are maddening.

Admire your persistence !!

Monitoring the test builds... something to take mind off our General Election....returns will start in 10 minutes and results may arrive overnite.
Meantime we have 200km/hr winds and I fear many poor will not be out voting...so just the rich w@^%#kers with transport and multiple rentals be out.

Given that you liked and persisted with mympd, would you object if I suggested that AK drop it? This is not a good use of AK's precious time.
My only concern is what would replace it ?

The scenario where SO becomes an LMS+RPi only distro dilutes its appeal.
There are many out there who wish to have a dedicated Audio PC and have unused X86 hardware...this is a simple way to test the waters and if liked then invest in dedicated hardware, RPi, Dac etc
mympd is now built (although just for aarm64 right now). I kind of forgot what/why made me change to the pre-built binaries though Huh. There must be something, I just can't remember what it is. But whatever it is, can always rebuild to add in any missing bits.

Just a few more touch-ups to address before the first alpha release.
  1. is the move to a service daemon for the RestAPI server (rather than relying on rc.local)
  2. Fix a weird problem where the WebApp says MPD is not running, but it is.
Apologies for no update past few days.. Replacement guy has joined the company. Remember the last guy who only pretended to work? This new replacement never stops working Confused . He's in the US, and I'm in Perth Western Australia. The poor chap is now working from around 9am to well past 2 am some days.

Usually very bad at first impressions, but so far I get that he's really knowledgeable, and should be very good at his job. This guy should be a good hire. Just need to work less hours so he wouldn't suffer burn out like I did earlier in the year.
Hey, AK,

How about adding a convolution filter and it also can support to load and save different filters?  Thanks a lot!  Big Grin

Planning for Measurements.. Will add support for this in a later version1.3.x. Will need you and @Snoopy8  to help me out on this.

First step is to get 1.3.0 out the door. Before that, alpha 1... I will post a quick thread in the test forums soonish. Again if you guys have donated to the project but can't see that section please let me know.
Raspberry Pi Bookworm is out. I'm going to build x86_64 (AMD/Intel CPU 64 bit versions first) before tackling 32 bit bookworm.

In theory because Ubuntu and Raspberry OS are both Debian based, you should be able to use both versions of the Snakeoil installer on both platforms. That's the theory anyway.

I'm also trying to source a second hand ZIMA single board computer (SBC). Hope that will work out.

All in all I hope the new install method will make it easier for people to try Snakeoil OS. Quit frankly we are living in a shitty world right now so a little bit of good music will brighten the day for some.
