I did use hpet in the past but thought I'd try tsc for lower latency.

I'm going to at least enable in bios so i have the choice.

bzip2: (stdin) is not a bzip2 file.tar: Child returned status 2tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting nowadduser: The user `mympd' already exists./usr/local/bin/mpd_remote.sh: line 47: mympd: command not foundtee: /var/lib/mympd/config/http_port: No such file or directorytee: /var/lib/mympd/config/ssl_port: No such file or directory

To me, between HPET & TSC, the difference in sound will be easier to be noticed in those music with more instruments, richer arrangement, and stronger rhyme, e.g. orchestral, band music.  Enjoy. Shy

i am uanble to get hpet option in my intel nuc 8th gen. con someone guide me

Hey, man, you gotta go to CMOS menu and disable all those power management options, e.g. C state  and so and so..........
BTW, did u disable those hyperthreading, speedstep, virtualization and etc setting in CMOS menu?  If not just disable them.

I'm ok, I just use MPDROID as I always have.

I'm all up and running and listening to quality a few years more advanced than I was!!!

thanks everyone once again!!!

Great!  So did you get the hpet yet?
yep, hpet activated in bios. and have option to choose within SO.

I have to say though, I did a very quick listen in on some classical between hpet and tsc, my non-tuned ears couldn't hear a difference haha

Good good good.

In my system, roughly speaking, for the timbre and sound stage, hpet vs tsc is a bit like the silver interconnect wire vs copper interconnect wire.

For the overall presentation, when playing band music or orchestral music, tsc is like a drunken band or an orchestra without conductor.  The mood may be better but the beat, the punch and the structure are like an amateur band.

I've compared hpet and tsc in several scenarios, e.g. using SO as a player (MPD to me), or as a file server for another SO, or Lumin and some other streamers.  The results are consistent.  It's quite a surprise to me that TSC affects even that PC is only using as a NFS file server.

Besides, I've also compared them in a ubuntu desktop pc I used it to watch netflix, youtube and files on TV, and connecting to my 2 channels.  Not only the audio quality tells the difference, and it's interesting that the difference in video quality is also significant.  So to the ordinary kernel vs lowlatency kernel.  Yet this pc is not running with LTS ubuntu, no official RT kernel is available for such short life version.

Enable it in CMOS/BIOS menu and disable all power management setting, e.g. c state.  Then you'll see it in SO menu.  I'm using NUC10.
